Wood or composite?
Composite (Trex, TimberTech) lasts 25+ years with no sanding, staining, or rot. Wood (pressure-treated or cedar) costs 30-40% less upfront but needs maintenance every 2-3 years. We'll tell you honestly which makes sense for your budget and how long you plan to stay in the home
Do I need a permit for a deck?
Yes, in virtually all Connecticut towns. Any deck over 30" above grade requires a building permit with footings inspected below frost line. We pull all permits and coordinate inspections
How long does a deck build take?
A typical 12x16 deck is 3-5 crew days from footing dig to final railing. Larger or multi-level decks with built-in benches, lighting, or custom patterns run 1-2 weeks
Can you fix my existing deck?
Yes, if the framing is sound. We replace rotten boards, upgrade railings to code, reinforce ledger connections, and can add stairs or landings. If joists or the ledger are rotted, we'll tell you it's cheaper to rebuild
