Questions about Chimneys
Should I rebuild or just repoint?
Repointing (tuckpointing) works when mortar joints are cracked or crumbling but bricks are sound. If bricks are spalling, the chimney crown is failed, or the structure is leaning, a full rebuild is the only lasting fix. We assess both during our Level II inspection
What causes chimney leaks?
Most leaks come from failed crown cracks, missing or cracked flashing, or deteriorated mortar joints. We trace the water path with a camera inspection before proposing a fix — no guessing
Do you install chimney liners?
Yes. Stainless steel liners for wood, gas, and oil appliances. We size to manufacturer spec and local code. Includes a new cap and spark arrestor
How long does a chimney rebuild take?
A full rebuild from roofline to crown is typically 2-3 crew days. Crown-only or repointing jobs are usually 1 day. Masonry needs 24-48 hours to cure before we can expose it to rain
